The Valais Boys

Meet Our Flock
Raising Valais sheep has been a collaborative family endeavor. We began this journey alongside my sister, Bethany, of TBC Valais Farms in Ohio. Together, we bring complementary expertise and enthusiasm to our respective flocks, sharing a mutual passion for raising healthy, high-quality Valais sheep. Our breeding program prioritizes the careful selection of sires and dams to ensure quality and maintain genetic diversity.
All of our sheep are recorded, registered, and DNA-typed with the Valais Blacknose Sheep Society USA.
The accompanying photo features Bethany’s granddaughter with TBC Sissom’s Cedric. Cedric sired Bethany’s 2024 lambs and has since relocated to Virginia, where he is now contributing to another breeder’s flock.
TBC Sissom's Bohdan
Bohdan was our first embryo lamb from New Zealand in 2021. His lineage includes some of the world's prominent sires.

STS Sweet William
William is our latest ram, carefully selected for his outstanding wool quality and contribution to genetic diversity. His sire is Balambar, and his dam is a descendant of Westmorland Frankie, a maximum-point ram from New England.
Other Rams in our program
Three sires are influencing our breed up and pure program right now:

TBC Sissom’s Zane has been a prominent sire for many of our F2 lambs over the past few years. Renowned for his exceptional wool, particularly on his legs, Zane consistently passed this trait along with his gentle disposition to his offspring, often affectionately referred to as "teddy bears."
He carries the spitti gene in his color genetics, producing primarily classic lambs with a few spitti variations. Zane has since relocated to California, where he continues to contribute to the breed’s development.

Although Black Oak Bentley is not part of our flock, we incorporated his genetics into both our breed-up and purebred programs to enhance genetic diversity. We performed LAI (Laparoscopic Artificial Insemination) on several ewes and conducted IVF on our purebred ewe, TBC Sissom’s Selah, using Bentley’s genetics. Notably, Bentley sired two maximum-point sheep at the Fall 2024 National Valais Show in Iowa.
Black Oak Braxton is another ram whose genetics we have incorporated into our breed-up and purebred programs, despite not being part of our flock. We performed LAI (Laparoscopic Artificial Insemination) on an F3 ewe and conducted IVF on our purebred ewe, TBC Sissom’s Selah, using Braxton’s genetics. Braxton is the full sibling to the dam (Black Oak Bluebell) to the Bentley maximum point sheep last Fall 2024 National Valais Show in Iowa.
